Tom Van Gestel gave his services as art director and production designer for this experimental short film by film artist Rosto A.D of Amsterdam.
Splintertime, the third film about the musical band, Thee Wreckers, opens with images of figures floating along graffitied walls, their faces twisted. A Lynchesque tension ensues as the characters drive into a completely white space in an ambulance. The ground is icy and the nurses sexy. In the car there is a rotting head. The figures float like helium balloons, tethered to the ground by chains.
The film, which combines live action with animation, is a tall tale, unrepeatable and surreal. An intuitive experience, in which the white space represents the womb. A dreamlike, or nightmare, experience.
